A Little About Steph…

It’s always nice to know the person you’re going to be working with, so here’s a little about Steph:
I’ve always had an interest in photography, I studied photos, looking at the details, the focus and the colors, figuring out what I loved and what I didn’t. When I was younger I didn’t think of pursuing photography as a career, I really just wasn’t aware of it as an option. Instead I pursued a BS in Math and left photography to being a hobby.
When I first started taking photos, the result was rarely exactly what I pictured in my mind. Obviously those early years held some disappointment when I developed my film and the photos didn’t quite align with my expectation. Once I started my family and wanted those dreamy baby photos – that’s when I invested in my first SLR.
I thought a better camera meant better photos, but that wasn’t the case. I captured moments but not feelings. There emotion didn’t show through my photos and I knew I wanted more. That’s when I started learning. It started slowly, learning about shutter speeds and the exposure triangle; forcing myself to shoot in manual. My first (self-imposed) challenges were sports photos of my kids. Nailing the focus and clarity, capturing the emotion – those were my first goals.
As I’ve progressed as a photographer, my education is more specific and my photography is significantly better. The emotion and simplicity I once sought in my photography is now a reality. I know what I’m doing yet I’m still always challenging myself and learning more. Taking photos, the challenge of different situations and settings, figuring out new equipment and analyzing the resulting photographs, this is exciting to me, it’s where my heart is. It’s why I started my photography business. To not follow this passion and do something with it would be a shame and I would always regret it.
What does this mean for you as my client? I will give you a professional, boutique experience. My goal is for you to relax and enjoy the process, knowing that I will take care of the details and create photos you will love. What makes an experience ’boutique’? A hands-on approach to creating a successful shoot with your expectations in mind. First we will work together to outline your expectations then I will provide guidance on choosing the details from location choice and clothing options to selecting the time of day and creating the atmosphere you are looking for. The best way for you to get the photos you want is for me to understand your goals from the start.
So, that’s a little about Steph.
